Darkness of Today

The world around me is all but white
The colour of being whole and pure
And every day is filled with loneliness
A disease with not a cure

The dark, dark room where I sit
Casts a shadow towards the wall
The things I see, and even hear
Aren't satisfying me at all

The light which use to shine
Upon our evil land
Has been over-run by the darkness
And humans every hand

We put things before what's best
And what should even matter
Friendship, hope, a loving friend
It couldn't be any sadder

That's what we, the people who know
Should try to shine a perfect light
To show everyone what really counts
And the difference between wrong and right
